It’s that time of year again in Delaware – the time of the balmy days of late summer when that season is coming to an end, and for me there’s a feeling of slight melancholy in the air. Where did the summer go?

Taking family photos in July has become a yearly ritual when my sister Diana is visiting Delaware. It may sound like fun at first and in fact it usually is, but there can be some hiccups along the way that inevitably end up happening. Here’s a snapshot (pardon the pun) of what took place this past July with outdoor lighting, the camera and LOTS of action!

The Fourth of July, which is Independence Day here in the United States, happens to be one of my favourite holidays. The reason? Well, it’s because there are always so many of our family members around with whom to celebrate and that makes it extra special and a lot of fun.

It’s June already and here comes the summer! I don’t know about you but I usually never really feel ready for this season, no matter what I try to put into place. It’s such a busy time in our household and even though it can bring a lot of fun and cheer to our home, it can also be quite hectic and rather intense. It’s still is however a happy time and quite full of excitement for everyone, especially the children.

Despite the gloomy weather that Saturday morning in April, Hope Gardens in Kingston, Jamaica was still alive and bursting with colour. My good friend Marina and I headed out to the quaint yet glorious gardens that were once our childhoods’ delight. We were both looking forward to our mini excursion even though the skies were grey.

Aren’t trees wonderful?! They enrich our lives in so many ways and apart from being so majestic and beautiful, they can shade us, feed us and most importantly help us to breathe! And we must not forget that’s where we get wood and paper from as well, things that we couldn’t live without, could we?

I have to admit it, I must confess ~ I LOVE colouring in adult colouring books! Not to sound overly dramatic here, however colouring in these books is absolutely one of my favourite things to do these days, hands down. And it’s also such a great form of stress relief for me.

As an artist, beginning a new piece of work can sometimes really be a struggle. Even if I have the subject matter to paint, if I’m not feeling the vibe of the image, then there’s no driving force for me to paint it with.

Should I go to Starfish Cay? Should I stay? What a dilemma I was having that morning, as there I was in two minds over whether to go out on the boat with my sister and her family last Sunday. It was a toss, as going would mean that we would be out there ALL DAY and staying at home would mean missing my last chance to go to the beach during my entire trip to Jamaica.
