Celebrating the Fourth of July

Fireworks on the Riverfront in Wilmington, Delaware.

The Fourth of July, which is Independence Day here in the United States, happens to be one of my favourite holidays. The reason? Well, it’s because there are always so many of our family members around with whom to celebrate and that makes it extra special and a lot of fun. Having celebrated quite a few Independence Days here in the U.S. now, I really look forward to this day, as I know that the company we share will be well-loved and cherished.

Over the years, we’ve ended up celebrating this day in a few different States, such as Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland. My younger sister Diana and her family are always here visiting us at that time and every other year, so is the family of my sister in law Laurel. Then there are often various other relatives from my husband’s side, along with other good friends. It’s so heartwarming to be able to watch the fireworks at night with such a great group of people. Even if we don’t experience the fireworks directly, we can still hear them going off in the distance. That I find quite exciting and the children think it’s a blast! (Pardon the pun.)

So as you can see, the Fourth of July is a special holiday for many of us, especially for me. And most importantly, being able to acknowledge the Independence Day of the United States while being here means a lot to me. It feels so good to be able to do that!

I am really looking forward to the next one, which is in just a few days. And surely enough, we will all be gathered here together once again to celebrate it another time around.

Happy Fourth to you all when it comes and I hope you have a wonderful celebration!
