What a week it was! Our trip to Jamaica for the premier book launch of A Watercolour Tribute to Historic Jamaican Churches just a few weeks ago was jam packed with event planning, interviews, family connecting and beach going. Rich, colorful and fulfilling in every way imaginable, Rochelle and I heralded success on our journey back to the U.S.

As we arrived in Jamaica on June 23rd, we hit the ground running and continued with the process of putting things into place. I did some interviews while Rochelle juggled phone calls, site visits and food tasting. Thankfully, we were able to squeeze in some sun with the Chen family, along with the most delicious fish and festival at Fort Clarence Beach that Sunday. We also found time to frame some giclee prints at the Contemporary Caribbean Art Gallery, pay some visits and dine out.

On the evening of the book launch, our venue The Devonshire at Devon House looked stunning after have being decorated by Every Blooming Thing. The members of the Jamaican Youth Orchestra arrived and started practicing their string instruments. In no time at all the guests and speakers had arrived. The evening had commenced and beautifully so.

I’m so happy to report that it was well attended and the various speeches given by the Honorable Edmund Bartlett, Minister of Tourism, the Rt. Rev. Howard Gregory, Bishop of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands and Mrs. Valerie Facey, D Litt, were fantastic! I signed books and then mingled with friends, family and other guests. Everyone seemed to be enjoying them selves and I was pleased about that.

Before I knew it, the evening had come to an end. I was exhausted but happily so. I am so thankful for all the love, warmth and support that I received that evening and I couldn’t have asked for more. I’m back in Delaware now and able to reflect on what I consider to be a job well done. I thank all of you that worked so hard to make this event happen – I am beyond grateful!
