I have to admit it, I must confess ~ I LOVE colouring in adult colouring books! Not to sound overly dramatic here, but colouring in these books is absolutely one of my favourite things to do these days, hands down. And it’s also such a great form of stress relief for me.
You could say it was kind of a secret, but not really, as I did talk a little about colouring mandalas in a previous blog and how it helped me with finding new colours for my Ethereals.
What I find is that in the evenings, especially after a long day, it’s so easy for me to sit down on our cosy blue couch and start colouring. I usually gravitate towards the colouring books with the mandalas by Angie Grace, in Angie’s Extreme Stress Menders. Laugh if you will, but just by using my bright and assorted Berol Prismacolor Colored Pencils, I am really able to put my mind at ease and be transported into a spectrum of colour that I’ve created, even if I haven’t drawn the outlines to begin with.
Yes, even an artist and a painter at that, admits to enjoying what one may consider a somewhat childlike activity, and then again, why not? It’s probably the very childlike nature of it that creates the relaxation and letting go. I encourage anyone who enjoys drawing and colour to give this a try. You may just happen to find a new love in doing so. And by the way, for all you Fashionistas out there, I’ve found it’s also helpful with colour coordinating outfits – who would have known?!
Happy colouring!
